Projects galore...

I have been busy with many different projects but have been slacking in posting pictures and descriptions of them. Something that I am continually making are fabric cards for all types of occasions. I did not come up with this design on my own...I merely followed the tutorial on Moda's Bake Shop where it gave detailed instructions. Now I am churning out these cards on a regular basis and giving them to friends and family for their own use. I try to use batiks when I make these as they are less prone to ravel and therefore give me less problem when I sew them. Also, I try to use as bright of fabric as possible. Here are a few pics of my card creations.

Another project that I did back at Christmas was a hopscotch mat for playing inside. I have friends who have 4 little girls and when there is a snow day or something else that keeps them all inside, they get bored very quickly. So, for Christmas this year I designed a mat that could be rolled up when not in use and was washable if needed. I backed the mat in durable denim from my stash. I made sure to use the brightest fabric I had on hand and then attached the black felt numbers. I then made bean bags for each girl so there would not be a problem sharing (not in the picture as they were not done when I snapped it). Check it out:

If you are interested in having any of these designs for your own, contact me and I will discuss the details about your individual item. I would love to create something unique for you and your family!

Update coming soon!

Hey everyone! I am starting to work on getting the blog updated with new posts, not all related to denim, and jazzing up the overall look a bit. Stay tuned for what is to come next!

So I realize it has been a while since I last posted. I have been busy with wedding season, work, and gearing up for my vacation to Australia. Here are just a couple of things that I put together to use up excess of one line that I am particularly fond of. Lots of blue, green and brown in my stash of cotton fabrics.

Here are a few pothlders I made using special batting that is made to withstand extreme heat. I went ahead and quilted it along the seam lines on the denim side using coordinating brown thread. The set is priced at $15.

Another project I worked on was a new tablerunner design using similar fabrics to the potholders above. It measures approximately 27 inches long and 21.5 inches wide. I pieced together two panels of different denims and then used one color of denim around all the edges. On the back side I used coordinating cotton fabric and then denim near the edges. It was bound with an all over print of brown, blue, and green dots. I quilted it by stiching a random running stitch in denim blue all over the tablerunner. With this table runner you get two wonderful tablerunners for the price of one! It is priced at $40.

Even though I know it is passing quickly, I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am enjoying mine!

Spring is finally here!

Hello everyone! Spring has officially arrived and with it comes all the allergies from the trees budding out and the grass sprouting up. For some comes that not so fun spring cold and sometimes you just want to cuddle up on the couch with a good book or a movie and your favorite lap quilt. This quilt was pieced together using denim from old jeans and cotton scraps from my scrap box. I used purchased backing and binding that cordinated with the mixed cotton scraps that are throughout the quilt. I had it professionally quilted with a basic geometric design. This quilt's finished size is approximately 76 inches by 47 inches. I have this quilt priced at $100. If you would like to furnish your own denim, I would be able to drop down the price of the quilt to $80. Please contact me if you are interested in this design or have any questions.

Cabin Fever

It has been a while since I last updated the blog and I have been busy. I had a lot of projects to get done for the holidays as gifts and finally I have had time to get some new things made. It has been a long winter with all the snow that we have received and I am hoping that spring is in the near future. Each snowy day I hope that it is our last, but I suppose there is still some winter left for us. At least the cold and snowy weather helps me to stay inside and create more.

I have a new bag that is available for sale now. It is the same patchwork design that I have previously designed but I have made some additions. I added a pocket inside the bag that can be used for easy access to your cell phone or lip color. I also tacked on a layered denim flower with button embellishment. The tote bag is lined with pink and purple swirled cotton. The pocket is from a pair of discarded jeans; the handles are pink nylon belting. This bag is to be machine washed and laid flat to dry.

Another new design I finished recently were accent pillows with wording. The pillows I made have the words Faith, Hope, & Love hand appliqued on them. The denim pillows are pieced together with different tones of denim and the words are cut from wool felt. I used a buttonhole stitch with coordinating embroidery floss to attach the words onto the denim pillow. I have stuffed the pillows with fiberfill to just the right fullness for decorative needs.

These pillows can be done many different ways. A family name, initials, or other combinations of words to fit your life and preferences are all possible. There are also more than 60 colors of wool felt that can be used for the letters leaving the combinations as far as your imagination will take it. At this time one pillow will be priced at $15, two pillows at $25, and three pillows at $35. If you are interested in any accent pillows, please contact me and I can design pillows that are specific to your wants.

If there are any other ideas that you have please let me know and I can see what I can do. I am currently working on a quilt design as well as potholders and coasters. Hope that the remaining winter days fly by and that Spring will be upon us.

Keep checking back for new designs.

Something for your table...

Here is one of my favorite things to make lately. I love having fun with colors and this design allows me to mix and match with different patterns.
This tablerunner measures approximately 18 x 32 inches. The fabric I chose for this tablerunner has ovals of blues, greens, creams and browns. The binding is done in a contrasting stripe from the same fabric line. I have backed it with demin to make it sturdy as well as reversable. It is quilted with brown thread for an interesting contrast.
I have this tablerunner available for sale for $40. If you are interested or have another color in mind with the same design please contact me at my email address.
